A truly enduring tale which takes place in the beautiful Highlands of Scotland and the rapidly changing Birmingham in the fifties. This tale shows how, in times of need, all kinds of characters pull together to ensure the penniless laird's goals are met. At the beginning the laird's ever loyal daughter Flora is set-up on a miss-matched date with Freddie a socialite from Birmingham. Their pairing was a one which could never work, however it was on this night Flora met car mechanic John Mason. This meeting turns Flora into an independent young lady who decides to take her future into her own hands, by running away to be with her love. Flora’s heart strings are pulled into returning to the highlands to support her ailing father, but John has his goals set on developing his own classic car restoration business in Birmingham. In turn a series of beautiful friendships prove that class and money may not be the most important thing after all - emotions and friendship are the key to be happy.
On reading this book I felt as if I were there, breathing in the fresh brisk air from the Highlands, I could smell the wood burning and feel the heat from the roaring fire set in the laird's kitchen. This is the kind of book which is very hard to put down. A real page turner, it teaches much about life and shows that things are never as dire as they may seem.
This book takes you to the Highlands of Scotland and the working class areas of Birmingham even taking in some of London, in a forgotten time. Everyone knows about the sixties but how many of us think of the fifties? Its a gripping story, well written with lots if interesting characters.

I enjoyed your book very much, nice style, very romantic. Scotland at its best. Not just a story, a style of its own. You open the book you cannot put it down. The author deserves to be known.
